More than 1000 vintage pieces of equipment used in farming, well drilling, lumbering, and construction in the early days of this century are on display at capital Guajome Park in Vista. Additional displays include blacksmith shop, country kitchen and saw mill. (5 miles east of Carlsbad)

Stroll on Oceanside's landmark pier for unique vantage point of the beautiful coastline. The quaint harbor with hundreds of small sailboats is also a departure point for deep sea fishing and whale watching. (3 miles north of Carlsbad)

Quail Botanical Gardens is recognized throughout the country as having one of the world's most diverse and botanically important plant collections. California natives, exotic tropical, palms, bamboos and other unusual plant collections thrive in 30 acres of canyons and sunny hillsides. (6 miles from downtown Carlsbad)

The largest of California's 21 missions, San Luis Rey dominates the skyline on the eastern edge of Oceanside. The majestic mission, built in 1798, was once the focal point of a community of 3000 Native Americans. But it is still in use as a parish church and seminary. (7 miles from downtown Carlsbad)

Covering hillsides above the Pacific shoreline, The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch(tm) come alive every year! Thousands of ranunculus plants are separated into ribbon-like bands of color. The blooms create a sea of flowers which attract visitors from all over the world. (Carlsbad).
