Wild Animal Park

The San Diego Wild Animal Park is one of the foremost wildlife preserves in the world. Here, animals from around the globe are born, live and thrive in a free environment. A monorail tram takes visitors on a 5-mile, 50-minute tour of the preserve. Visit the animal nursery and see wild animal shows that are presented daily. (25 miles east of Carlsbad)

Del Mar Fair Grounds and Race Track
While trade shows and exhibits are held throughout the year, the fair grounds really come alive in late June until early July when it becomes the site of the Del Mar Fair and for horse racing season beginning in late July. (14 miles south of Carlsbad)

Legoland California
Just about everything is made out of Lego blocks.  A great place for your kids.  Located in Carlsbad approximately 5 minutes from the Pelican Cove Inn.

Stephen Birch Aquarium
Explore the Pacific through colorful marine life display, and off-shore tide pool and exhibits on current oceanographic research. (19 miles south of Carlsbad)

Sea World
Sea World is much more than the world renowned aquatic show. Visitors to the park see fascinating displays and aquariums, plus have the opportunity to pet and feed playful dolphins. It is a great place to spend an entire day. (24 miles south of Carlsbad)

Old Town San Diego
Where San Diego was born. Historical buildings on spacious grounds share the park with gift shops and unique restaurants. Mariachi bands and folk dancers perform each weekend. Nearby Serra Museum features exhibits of San Diego's heritage. (32 miles south of Carlsbad)

San Diego Maritime Museum
A floating display of maritime history featuring the Star of India, the oldest iron-hulled sailing vessel afloat. Usually berth nearby are some of the Navy's newest ships.

Cabrillo National Monument
The monument, visitor's center and historic lighthouse on the tip of point loma offer a panoramic view of San Diego and Coronado.

Balboa Park
Clustered within this magnificent 1,400 acre park in downtown San Diego are a dozen or more attractions including the world famous San Diego Zoo, the Reuben H.
